Caliph8
Manila-born Arvin Nogueras records as Caliph8, a sound and visual artist working in sample-based granular synthesis and free-form improvisation — sheets of polyrhythmic beats, one-note samples, and deconstructed cut-and-paste sequences, layered with prepared gear and prepared objects. Active in Manila’s visual and sound art scenes since the late 90s, he draws on his background in early Manila graffiti and hip-hop, subverting both through material and audio manipulation. With Nonplus he forms the duo Seething Mass. He has collaborated with Keiji Haino, dj sniff, Yuen Chee Wai, Sin:Ned, Otomo Yoshihide, Roger Lopez, Seido, Teichmann Brothers, and Malek Lopez, with releases on Dub Temple Records (Brisbane), SVBKVLT (Shanghai), and O-Rich (Tokyo).

Cyril Yarisantos
Cyril Yarisantos is a Manila DJ and producer who began mixing soul, R&B, hip-hop, breaks, funk and disco in 1990, and by 1991 — at age 15 — was one of the youngest residents on the Manila club circuit, where he turned toward house and techno. A co-resident at Groove Nation’s Deep Fried, he later played the latter run of the Consortium parties. His sets and releases on Funkfield and Dustpan Records have placed him alongside Marques Wyatt, Juan Nunez, Nathan Coles, Evil Eddie Richards, and Detroit’s Kevin Saunderson.
CZBoogie
CZBoogie is the DJ project of Czarina Mirani — a Filipino-American actress-and-dancer turned house music selector based in Chicago. In 2005 she launched 5 Magazine, North America’s only publication dedicated to underground house. Her sets lean disco-infused house and have taken her across the US, Asia, and beyond; her party brand and magazine recently celebrated their 20th anniversary at Smartbar.
